Wilfrid Gates Sits on Panel at Build Boston

Wilfrid L. Gates, Jr. ASLA, Chairman of Gates, Leighton & Associates, Inc. participated in a professional panel at the region’s premier architecture and building showcase: Build Boston, November 15, 2007. Fellow Panelists were David J. Odeh, Structural Engineer, Nicholas Iselin, Developer, and James Gray, Architect.

The panel was entitled: “Building Tall in Providence”. The panelists explored the history, practices, and market influences that have driven a transition from low-rise suburban-style design to mid-rise and high-rise urban towers within Providence’s Capital Center District.

Mr. Gates participated in his role as Chairman of the Design Review Committee of the Capital Center Commission. After reviewing the genesis of the District Master Plan and speaking to the changing attitudes toward urban density, Mr. Gates discussed how the Capital Center Commission has interfaced with developers to achieve the desired results.
