Kris M. Bradner- Senior Landscape Architect: RLA
Experience: Ms. Bradner is a Landscape Architect at Gates, Leighton & Associates, Inc with over 12 years experience of landscape architectural and project management experience with a focus on transportation, institutional and urban design. Drawing upon past experience with large scale transportation projects, Ms. Bradner is actively involved in several RIDOT projects with Gates, Leighton & Associates, Inc., She is also managing the master planning effort for the Village of Manchuag’s riverwalk in Sutton, Massachusetts, as well as designing various projects for Johnson & Wales University. Kris is a registered Landscape Architect in Maryland and Rhode Island. Background: Prior to joining the GLA team, Kris Bradner was the Project Manager on numerous municipal and state projects. Ms. Bradner was Project Landscape Architect for a variety of private and commercial projects as well as park and recreation development projects. While with KCI Technologies, Inc. in Maryland, Ms. Bradner was associated with the University of Maryland’s Baltimore City Campus Streetscape Improvements. Key elements of this project included paving combinations of brick and concrete pavers, landscaping and associated lighting. Materials where chosen with a mindfulness toward signifying a campus feel within an urban setting. Some considerations involved in the design process were survival of urban trees and existing constraints such as adjacent properties and historic building entrances. Ms. Bradner was part of the landscape architectural team for the Route 70 - Gateway to Annapolis project which included the repair and replacement of two existing bridges and road reconstruction into the State Capital. The team’s participation included charrettes with community stakeholders and involved environmental and architectural design. This project was recently awarded the Mid-Atlantic Construction Best of 2006 Award in the Transportation Category. Qualifications: Ms. Bradner received her Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from The University of Rhode Island in 1994 where she was a recipient of both the URI President’s Award and the ASLA Honors Award. She also participated in continuing educational at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland where she was qualified to prepare forest stand delineations and forest conservation plans.
