GLA Adds Landscape Architects, Designers to Staff

(GLA), an international landscape architecture and planning firm headquartered in East Providence, R.I., has recently hired four new employees to its design staff: Kristin L. Kaczmarek, landscape architect; Kris M. Bradner, RLA, landscape architect; Amanda Sloan, landscape designer; and Mark J. Butler, Jr., landscape designer. These individuals are responsible for landscape concept and design development, plan presentations, construction documentation, specification writing and cost estimating for GLA’s commercial and residential clients throughout New England and Egypt. Kristin L. Kaczmarek, Landscape Architect Most recently, Kristin L. Kaczmarek was employed as associate landscape architect at John C. Carter & Co., Inc. in Narragansett, RI. She is a 2005 graduate of the University of Rhode Island (Kingston, RI) where she earned bachelor’s degrees in landscape architecture and art studio. She is a resident of Cranston, RI. Kris M. Bradner, RLA, landscape architect Kris M. Bradner joins GLA most recently from KCI Technologies, Inc. (Hunt Valley, MD) where she served as project manager/landscape architect. Previously, she was a landscape architect with Mahan Rykiel Associates (Baltimore, MD) and landscape designer with Pawlowski Associates (Providence, RI). She is a 1994 graduate of University of Rhode Island (Kingston, RI) where she earned a bachelor of landscape architecture degree. She currently is studying forest conservation as part of the Odysee Program for Continuing Education at Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore). Ms. Bradner is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects and a past member of Maryland Save Our Streams. She resides in Providence, RI. Amanda Sloan, landscape designer Most recently, Amanda Sloan worked as a landscape designer with Julie Moir Messervy and Associates Landscape Design Consultants (Waltham, MA and Saxtons River, VT). She provided illustrations for Messervy’s regular column in Fine Gardening magazine and book, “Outside the Not-So-Big House.” She is a 1980 graduate of Wesleyan University (Middletown, CT) where she earned a bachelor of arts degree in Science in Society. She holds a certificate in landscape design from the Landscape Institute of the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University (Spring 2000) in Cambridge, MA. A resident of Sharon, MA, Ms. Sloan is a member of the Sharon Planning Board and past president of the Sharon Garden Club. Mark J. Butler, Jr., landscape designer Most recently, Mark J. Butler, Jr. was landscape design consultant for the University of Rhode Island (Kingston, RI) Botanical Gardens. He served as landscape designer for Clark Farms of Wakefield, RI and adjunct professor of landscape design for the University of Rhode Island. He is a 1994 graduate of Providence College where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in social science, and a 2003 graduate of University of Rhode Island where he earned a bachelor of landscape architecture.
