Gates, Leighton & Associates, Inc. is a professional landscape architectural consulting firm serving a wide range of commercial, international, private and public sector clients. Now approaching their 30th year together, founding principals Wilfrid Gates and Donald Leighton have a combined 70 years of experience. GLA’s fifteen member staff includes six fully licensed landscape architects and one LEED certified professional. With offices in East Providence, Rhode Island; Brunswick, Maine; and Cairo, Egypt, GLA has the resources to deliver the highest quality of service to both domestic and international markets.

GLA’s international outreach has led to projects in Egypt, the Dominican Republic, Belize, Bermuda, and Dubai. GLA is proud of its role in the development of the 350 room Ritz Carlton Desert Beach Resort and Casino in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. GLA was responsible for the site planning, recreational features and all landscape components of this award-winning property.
Domestically, GLA has planned and designed office parks, college campuses, recreational facilities, commercial site plans and estate residences in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. GLA has performed visual analysis, bridge design, bicycle trails planning, and landscape design extensively for the Rhode Island Department of Transportation, the Maine Department of Transportation, and the Federal National Parks Service.
GLA listens carefully to its clients needs and ideas and communicates design responses in masterfully colored concept drawings. The firm produces well documented articulate reports, plans, and specifications for construction.
